10
points to keeping your relationship alive Story from I Do I Do Creations Magazine
Issue 2
1.
Love each other as though you have never loved before.
Take comfort in the fact you are in love and that someone
loves you back. Say I Love You often, and for no reason,
not only in words, but with actions as well. Realize
the element of surprise never fades. Do things for each
other that reinforce your love and allow your love to
grow.
2. Treat each other as friends - listen
and give each other advice as friends would do. Accept
that you have different opinions and try not to enforce
your opinions on each other or make one right or wrong.
Never try to control one another, as you are both
individuals.
3.
Share responsibilities and chores around the house.
Work together to achieve your goals and motivate and
encourage your partner when the goals seem out of
reach. Appearance, manners and self-pride should never
be forgotten - make an effort for the one you love
as well as for yourself.
4. Care for and nurture each other.
When one of you is sick do something special just
to put a smile on their face. Listen to each others
problems - even if they don't need your advice listening
is always an important step to understanding.
5. Talk to each other about your day,
your week and your life. Never say anything negative
about your partner to family and friends, always focus
on the positive. Share your fears and your fantasies
and never betray the trust in those feelings.
6. Put yourself in your partner’s
shoes whenever you question an action or decision
- ask how you would feel or want to be treated in
the same situation. Never take each other for granted
and remember to say thank you for the everyday things
you do for each other.
7. Never walk out on an argument, or
better still never argue. Openly discuss your feelings
without accusing the other of doing any wrong, Explain
how you feel rather than tell. Look for answers rather
than hide from your feelings.
8. Realise you can keep your own identity
and live together as one. Live life together but rejoice
in the time you spend alone just being you.
9. Work harder on your relationship
than any promotion or ambition you have had in life.
Remember that love doesn’t come easy and that
a lifelong relationship means a lifetime commitment
to listen, care, trust and understand whatever life
throws your way. When in love no obstacle should be
too hard to overcome if you overcome it together.
10. Most importantly, have fun together,
laugh together, show emotions both happy and sad,
rely on each other and never forget that a little
romance goes a long long way. Never let your romance
die.
