Your
Bouquet Story from I Do I Do Creations Magazine
Issue 2
The
style, shape and colour of your bouquet is an important
aspect to consider, along with the way you intend
to carry your bouquet. We have put together some handy
tips to consider when selecting your bouquet.
Size
and shape
Having a large bouquet can hide intricate beading
or special features on your gown and can also be overpowering
in photos. Similarly having a bouquet that is too
small can be just as disastrous. Your bouquet should
be in proportion to your body shape, height and style
of gown you have selected.
Colour
Select colours that complement your entire bridal
party. If wearing a white gown, a bouquet of just
white flowers will be lost - use a contrast colour
or pastels to accentuate the bouquet.
When discussing your needs
with a florist take sample swatches of the material
for both yourself and your bridal party, to match
colours against.
Design
With todays variety of flowers
and styles from modern, formal, traditional to native
you need to select a style that enhances your overall
theme. Wearing a traditional gown with a modern bouquet
will not enhance your gown. Choose a design that will
complete your gown and theme.
Season
Availability of flowers
can influence your design but be careful not to select
flowers that will not withstand the weather conditions
of your special day.
In summer select flowers that will withstand the heat,
and in winter, flowers that are hardy enough to withstand
strong wind or cold temperatures.
All in all, trust the advice of a specialist in the
area and discuss your options with your selected florist.

When considering floral arrangements
for your wedding day the bouquet is not the only arrangement
you will need to consider. Listed below is a checklist
of items you may wish to discuss with your florist.
