Our wedding was unique and individual. The focus was on the gathering of our friends and family to celebrate the journey that we had been on. We wanted to celebrate the way that God had brought us together and the things that we will achieve together. During the service we had a special reading called 'The places we go' by Dr Seuss, read by my sister Grace Serpell.
We wanted to acknowledge our family heritage and honour those in our family that couldn't be there with us that we loved so much. My mum made me a clutch bag with charms from my grandparents that couldn't be there on the day, we also had bagpipes at the end of the ceremony to pay respects to Chris's Scottish heritage and his grandparents who both passed away. Chris and I also chose to use the same cake toppers that were on my parent's wedding cake which made the cake a very personal and important time of the ceremony.
Our reception was like a big a party, we chose this setting so people would feel like they were at a huge family gathering. Our banquet style meal provided more opportunity for people to interact with others. Chris and Lucy danced all night long and all their guests had a fantastic time.
