Kim Weston & Dwayne Townrow - 26 th March 2010 Photographer Annie Warren, Reception Big Hill Vineyard
We got married in the Forest Street Uniting Church. It is a lovely church and has a lot of meaning for us. On the day of the wedding each bridesmaid received a pair of monogrammed thongs to wear while getting reading and in between photo shoots. The groomsmen and father of the bride received a belt each with their name engraved on the buckle. And for the mother-of-the-bride and Kim's sister , both received a hand embroidered handkerchief embroidered with a personal poem.
For my something old, mum gave me a brooch which had belonged to my Nana. I used this brooch as a hair clip. Dwayne really loved the idea of having a bagpiper so we hunted down a gentleman by the name of Geoff Harvey, and he was fantastic. He played 'Scotland The Brave' as I walked down the aisle with dad.
Following the service our guests enjoyed a tram ride through Bendigo. This was a great opportunity for them to catch up with each other and fill in some time before the reception. I designed and printed 'Admit One' tickets for the trip.
As our theme was French Provincial, we really tried to bring this into the reception. The seating arrangement board was created using an array of white, 'French Provincial' style frames. Our bonbonnieres were personalised handkerchiefs which my mum suggested (and made!). We had the first initial of each guest embroidered on them by Heavenly Threads. The ladies hankies were white with a lace edge and the boys were a plain design in a coffee colour matching my colour theme.
Miranda from The Eternal Vase was fantastic. Not only did she do an amazing job with my flowers (which consisted of classic roses and hydrangeas) she was also a great ear for my ideas. We used old chalk boards for messages. Framed wedding photos of our parents and grandparents were displayed. Instead of a guest book, wedding guests were asked to leave their fingerprint from the ring finger of their left hand on a 'Fingerprint Tree'. Each of the green fingerprints became a leaf which covered the branches. The couple's framed 'Fingerprint Tree' takes pride of place in their home and is a wonderful reminder of their special day.
